Happy Easter! Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

During the season of Lent, after consultation with Pastor Benke, we decided to take some time away from this website. Because of the ongoing controversies in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod surrounding our pastor, we had become too involved in conversations and interactions with some of his attackers. These activities were getting in the way of our parish work, and dampening our spirits.

We have had a time for reflection, repentance and renewal through Lent and Holy Week. We are reporting to you that our parish leadership team is stronger than ever and dedicated to bringing you news of mission and ministry from three perspectives:

• First, we want to make the "main thing the main thing." This is the website of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brooklyn, New York. We want to let the world know about our congregation first and foremost. So we are going to bring you up to date on the work of God's love in our midst.
• Second, we want you to know about our Pastor, and what God is doing through him among us and among many other people, even through the St. Peter's Institute on Religious Tolerance (SPIRIT). Much has been happening, and all of the news is good and hopeful!
• Third, we want to keep on informing you on issues of importance in terms of Pastor's Prayer for America, the ongoing case, and the theological issues that have come up because of his prayer at Yankee Stadium.

That's our plan, and the next three articles will help us to bring it to pass! Our Easter prayer for all of our readers is for the abundant life of Christ to flow like a river in your soul!
