Dr. Gerald Kieschnick 1333 S. Kirkwood Road St. Louis, MO. 63122-7295
Dear Dr. Kieschnick,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Kathleen Thompson. Our family resides in Dix Hills, NY and we are members of St. Luke Lutheran Church also in
Dix Hills. My husband Brian worked on the 82'' floor of the south tower in the World Trade Center. He was an active member of our church up until September 11, 2001 when he was murdered in the terrorist attack.
This past year has been an enormous challenge for our family. Our faith had been tested, but with the help and guidance of our spiritual leaders
such as Rev. Dr. David H. Benke and Rev. Charles Froehlich, we have been able to endure. These men have truly been doing what our Lord requests of believers. That infamous day in September took over 3,000 innocent
lives from all walks of life, a true reflection of the melting pot we call our beloved USA. The prayer service on September 23, 2001 reflected the cross section of families that were all grieving for loved ones. I
for one was so very proud to see my Lutheran faith represented. Rev. Benke's stature and inspirational words that evening made us so proud. This man is blessed with the gift of commitment in spreading the gospel of
our Lord.
Please, I implore you, do not allow man made rules to impede this servant of God's work in our church. Weren't there enough innocent victims that
horrific day. Please do not allow Rev. Benke to become another one. I pray that our Lord will speak to your heart, and not silence one of our most outstanding Lutheran Church leaders.
As evidenced by their signatures below, three other WTC widows from my support group were equally inspired by Rev. Benke's address that evening.
God bless you, and thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely, Kathleen Thompson
