Pastor Rogers Addresses the LCMS Board of Directors; Two Letters
Dear Member of the LCMS Board of Directors,
I have read and reread the minutes of your August 15-18 meeting. As I reflect on them, it seems to me you would be better named "Board of
Control."
- You are attempting to control President Gerald Kieschnick, dictating to him what he may or may not say. You would in fact prevent him from
fulfilling his duties as President.
- You are attempting to control the Board for Communications Services, trying to dictate to them what they may or may not communicate.
- You are attempting to control the agenda of the Commission on Constitutional Matters, telling them what they may or may not rule on.
- You would like to control the International Lutheran Laymen's League as you second-guess its decisions.
- You would like to control individual districts as you question whether or not the Atlantic District may share their financial needs with the
Synod.
- You are attempting to control individual congregations when you talk about their needing to have constitutions and bylaws officially approved
before applying for a loan from LCEF. (Do you have any idea how many months that process takes in some districts?)
You say, "It is not the desire or intention of the Board of Directors to be dictatorial or to unduly control the actions of the agencies of
the Synod, and we have no intention of "micro managing." But it seems to me that is exactly what you are doing.
For the sake of the church, I urge you to consider rescinding some of your recent actions.

Dear BOD Members,
The Board of Directors Policy Manual states at 5.7.1.2
"The Board encourages Christ's people serving as board members, officers and staffs who differ with their brothers and sisters to pursue the
course of harmony, peace and unity in keeping with the mind of Christ, not publicizing these differences before the public,
but using the scriptural and fraternal principles of loving Christian counsel or admonition."
In light of the Board's stated policy of "not publicizing these differences before the public,"
how do you justify the August 26 mailing to every pastor and congregation the "Let All Be Done Decently and In Order" in which you very publicly criticized Dr. Gerald Kieschnick and Dr. David Benke?
