St. Peter's On the Move

Holy Season Update

We are approximately 125 strong at St. Peter's – baptized members. On an average Sunday, about 100 are present in worship, which is a reasonably high percentage; but with our programs for families and children, we do have lots of visitors and people in process of becoming part of our church family, so the count and the amount are changing for the better all the time.

Here's what happened this Holy Season:

    1. We prepared children for First Communion, Confirmation and Special Dramas during Holy Week (School and Sunday School). Our midweek activity day was Wednesday, with potluck suppers, instruction, worship and choir all packed in from 6:00 until 9:00 PM. Thanks to Ita Rosado for coordinating the potlucks; to Pastors Benke and Lalljie for instruction and prayer leadership; to Diane Miller and Pastor Desmond for Sunday School drama preparations; to Clara DelValle, Lizette Singh and Nydia Contreras for the first and second grade preparation; to all who contributed to the First Communion meal and examination; and to all those on the staffs whose dedication to children was so strong.

    2. We cleaned and cleaned and cleaned on the Saturday before Palm Sunday. $400 of new flowers were placed on our front lawn by a great team including the Cruz family, the Arthur family, Clara and Pastor Lalljie. The flowers and the whole project are being funded through the memorial for Charlotte Prinz. (picture link)

    3. Palm Sunday worship was jam-packed, with over 250 in attendance! Twelve children made their First Communion after instruction, and the first and second graders gave an awesome witness to the cross of Christ in song and mime. (picture link)

    4. Easter Sunday was also packed with over 200 people total. The Youth/Sunday School drama, with hard-working children giving their best in letting us know how the passion and resurrection of Christ are powerful for today, was a great success. Three new families joined our congregation – Roy, Suresh and Patricia, all of whom originally hail from Guyana, South America, are now part of our family of faith. More new members will be brought aboard by Pentecost. The Easter Breakfast, coordinated by Ita for the last time, and given so much energy by the Andino family, was a great victory celebration. Finally at the end of the English service Ita and Pedro came forward to receive our farewell gift as they prepare to move to Florida, joining so many others from St. Peter's in the Sunshine State.(pictures)

    5. We began a new Prayer and Praise worship opportunity on Sunday evenings coordinated by Pastor Desmond. It's only just begun to be a blessing!

    6. We're planning for big gathering on Mother's Day, with special observances and meal.

Keep us in prayer – we're a work in progress! But there is much, much joy in our midst in the Lord!
